Holy shit—thank you for penning the only RFK Jr piece that I’ve been able to read through to the end AND actually enjoy. My heart still sunk as it does every time I pay attention to the RFK Jr phenomenon but you did the amazing thing of alleviating that bereft feeling that also show up.

"Whatever the opposite of an embarrassment of riches is..."

I think at that point it's just an embarrassment. Full stop.

I mean, this is the single best piece I’ve read on the nightmare that is the RFK Jr candidacy and I’ve already read every single piece you’ve referenced in this essay (why am I like this?). But I am also a little bit (deeply) disturbed that you have heard from more than one acquaintance that they are considering voting for this man 😅

Just when I thought I couldn’t delight in your prose more, you go and write something like this, “…Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., America's answer to the Habsburg curse.”

I really like what you write. I notice that you need to be told that. I wish for you that you reach the point where you know that without being told. (If anyone ever does.)

This was so well put together. You always do a great job of taking a really serious subject like this and making it light enough to read but conveying that no, this is actually very important.
